How to reconcile cash, UPI, and card payments at day-end
A repeatable closing routine for owners who need payment totals, shift variance, discounts, and outstanding amounts to agree before the day ends.

Close the shift with the expected total
Start with the system total for the shift, then separate cash, UPI, card, bank transfer, credit, refunds, and partial payments. Mixed payments need to remain visible rather than being forced into one category.
Compare actual collections
Count physical cash, compare UPI and card settlement references, and record any difference with a reason. A variance is useful only when the owner can see who closed the shift and what was entered.
Review exceptions before sign-off
Look at discounts, cancelled invoices, refunds, unpaid balances, and stock adjustments. These explain why the headline sales number may not match the money received.
