Counter billing versus the client record

NoxOrigin vs myBillBook: billing at the counter, or the whole client record

myBillBook is India-focused billing software with GST at the centre, and for a shop whose work starts and ends at the counter it is very good at that job. NoxOrigin is a client-to-cash operating record: the opportunity, the agreed scope, the work, the invoice, the payment, and the balance all hang off the same customer. Both are real products answering different questions.

NoxOrigin makes one of the products compared in this article. We describe NoxOrigin from our own shipped product and published pricing. We have not run a myBillBook trial, so every myBillBook statement on this page is read from myBillBook’s own published pages, not from hands-on use. Currency handling: both products publish in Indian rupees, so this page needs no conversion and asserts none. We do not compare the two on price, because the plans are not scoped the same way. Last verified: 4 October 2026.

Evidence and method

What we tested, and what we only read

What we tested

NoxOrigin only. We use it daily, so our description of companies, leads, opportunities, quotes, projects, GST invoicing, UPI capture, receivables, and project economics comes from the product we ship. NoxOrigin is young with few live deployments, and we say so rather than implying otherwise.

What we source-verified

myBillBook’s published pricing page and its homepage. That gave us the plan names, the rupee figures, the plan contents, the money-back and discount terms, the payment methods, and the GST report, e-invoicing, and e-way billing claims. We did not trial it, we did not test its sync or its printing, we verified nothing about its support, and we quote no review scores.

Dimension by dimension

What each product actually covers

myBillBook’s published plan contents are unusually specific, and several of them are capabilities NoxOrigin does not have at all. Those rows are marked as myBillBook strengths, not as gaps we expect you to forgive.

What the product is forA client-to-cash operating record: companies, contacts, leads, opportunities, projects, quotes, invoices, payments, and receivables, with the profitability of each engagement visible against the customer who bought it.Billing software for small businesses in India, described on its homepage as creating GST and non-GST invoices, managing inventory, and tracking payments.
Pricing modelPublished INR platform plans: Starter INR 800 per month for three users, Growth INR 1,600 per month for ten users, and Agency INR 5,000 per month for twenty-five users across three workspaces, with annual billing at INR 8,000, INR 15,000, and INR 48,000. Nox-Billings is a scoped custom deployment and carries no list price.Three published plans in rupees. Plus at Rs.403 per month or Rs.291 per month billed annually (Rs.3,490 per year). Pro at Rs.665 per month or Rs.333 per month billed annually (Rs.3,990 per year). Pro Max starting at Rs.1,026 per month or Rs.570 per month billed annually. A 7-day money-back guarantee is stated on all plans.
Users and businesses includedThree users on Starter, ten on Growth, twenty-five on Agency. Additional users and workspaces are charged as add-ons.One business and one user plus one CA on Plus and Pro, on Android, iOS, and web, with a desktop app added on Pro. Pro Max covers two businesses and three users plus one CA, with both stated as upgradeable.
Access and devicesBrowser-based, with PIN access, roles, workspace-scoped permissions, approvals, and audit history across the workspace.Mobile-first across Android, iOS, and web on Plus, with a desktop app added on Pro and Pro Max. Data is described as auto-syncing across unlimited devices. This is a real advantage for counter staff working from a phone.
GST invoicingGST invoices with automatic CGST and SGST splits for intra-state sales and IGST for inter-state, HSN and SAC fields, B2B invoices carrying a GSTIN, and GST-wise tax reports.Core to the product. The homepage states it creates GST and non-GST invoices, and the plans cover custom invoice themes, A4 printing, and barcode scanning or label printing.
GST reports and your CAGST-wise tax reports for your own review. We do not file anything and we do not claim a CA workspace, though your accountant can be given access during scoping. The homepage states it generates GSTR-1, GSTR-2, and GSTR-3B reports automatically and shares them with your CA for faster filing and reconciliation, and lists Input Tax Credit as a capability. Every published plan includes access for one CA, which is a practical advantage we do not match.
E-invoicing and e-way billsNot provided. NoxOrigin does not generate IRN e-invoices against the Indian portal and does not issue e-way bills, and we will not imply otherwise.Listed on the Pro Max plan: unlimited e-way bills and e-invoicing generation. This is a genuine capability NoxOrigin does not have, and if it is your statutory requirement it is a reason to choose myBillBook.
Statutory return filingNot provided. NoxOrigin does not file GST returns, TDS, or any return for you. We produce invoices and tax reports, and that is the honest boundary. The pages we read describe generating GST reports and sharing them with your CA for filing. They do not state that myBillBook files returns on your behalf, and we publish no such claim. Confirm the current position with the vendor.
Stock, godowns, and barcodeCommerce area: catalog, stock, warehouses, purchasing, promotions, point-of-sale billing, and a day-end review reconciling expected cash, counted cash, payment mix, discounts, and variance. Day-end close and reconciliation are assisted-setup maturity rather than self-serve, so budget for setup help rather than assuming a switch is enough.A stated strength. Plus includes barcode scanning and A4 printing, Pro adds unlimited godowns, barcode label printing on a label printer, and bulk download and bulk print of invoices.
Point of salePoint-of-sale billing exists in the Commerce area, alongside stock and day-end reconciliation, as an assisted setup.POS billing on the desktop app and web app is listed on the Pro Max plan, alongside loyalty and rewards and automated recurring billing.
Customer and lead recordsCompanies, contacts, leads, opportunities, ownership, pipeline stages, dated next actions, and shared customer conversations in the Inbox. This is the part of the record myBillBook’s published plan contents do not describe. The published plan contents we read cover billing, stock, printing, POS, and e-way bills. They do not list lead ownership, opportunity pipelines, or a sales process, and we publish no claim that they do.
QuotingQuotes raised against the client and project, converted to an invoice without re-keying, with project economics to see margin by client. A scope change is a new quote attached to the same project, not an in-product change-request or contract record. Not listed in the published plan contents we read. Quotation work would sit in a separate tool.
Projects and work deliveryProjects, tasks, task lists, assignments, and recurring follow-ups, attached to the client and opportunity that caused the work. There is no milestone record and no deliverable record in the product. Not listed in the published plan contents we read. Delivery tracking is not part of the billing product.
Time tracking and payrollNot provided, and we do not imply otherwise. NoxOrigin has no timesheet record and no payroll module, and does not time staff automatically. Not listed in the published plan contents we read. We publish no claim either way beyond that.
Payments and collection follow-upUPI payment capture with the transaction reference recorded, payment reports split across cash, UPI, card, and credit, payment promises, receivables and ageing, and Razorpay payment links from Growth upward. The homepage states it tracks payments, and UPI is an accepted subscription payment method. We read no invoice-level UPI capture or payment-promise feature on the published plan contents, so we publish no claim for it.
ExpensesExpense tracking is in Nox-Billings, a scoped custom deployment, and purchasing lives in a separate Commerce product. Neither is part of the platform plan figures above. An expense-tracking software category is listed in myBillBook’s own site navigation, but we did not verify which plan includes it, so we publish no plan-level claim.
Client and project profitabilityProject economics per engagement, showing margin by client and by project, with quoted versus billed value visible on the same record. Not listed in the published plan contents we read.
Working with your accountantInvoices, tax reports, and payment records that your accountant can review, and an export path agreed during scoping. We do not file returns. One CA access included on every plan, GST reports generated automatically for the CA, and data export to Tally available on the Pro Max plan on request. For a business whose accountant is already on Tally, this is the more comfortable arrangement.
Scale and maturityA young platform with few live deployments. If a long public operating history is one of your buying criteria, that is a real mark against us. See our current product status. An established India-focused product. Its homepage claims 1Cr+ businesses use it; that is the vendor’s own marketing figure, which we did not verify and do not use as a comparison point.
Where myBillBook is the better buy

The counter, the barcode, and the CA

If your business is a shop, a clinic, a restaurant, or a small trader whose day is raising a compliant bill, myBillBook is built for exactly that and NoxOrigin is not. It is mobile-first with a desktop app, it prints and scans barcodes, it supports label printers and godowns, and every plan includes access for one CA.

If you need unlimited e-way bills, e-invoicing generation, POS billing, or an export path to Tally, those are published plan contents and NoxOrigin has none of them. Choosing myBillBook for a statutory or counter requirement is the correct decision, not a compromise.

It is also the better buy when a single person runs everything from a phone and the business has no service or project customers whose quotes and delivery need tracking. See the narrower counter comparison for the ledger-versus-billing boundary that matters here.

Where NoxOrigin is the better buy

When the customer has more than an invoice

NoxOrigin is the better buy when the business has customers it works with over time rather than customers it bills once. The customer who created the opportunity is the same customer attached to the agreed scope, the work, the invoice, the payment, the outstanding balance, and the profitability. That chain is what lets you ask which clients owe money on work currently in progress.

It is the better buy when quotes get retyped into invoices, when follow-up depends on whoever remembers, and when nobody can say which engagements are actually profitable. It is also the better buy for a business with branches and several counter users who need roles, approvals, and a day-end review that reconciles expected cash against counted cash.

The honest cost of that choice is real: no e-invoicing, no e-way bills, no loyalty programme, no WhatsApp marketing, no label printing, and no statutory filing. If those are your requirements, buy myBillBook. If the operating record is your requirement, buy NoxOrigin and keep your accountant for filing. See the NoxOrigin commercial chain.

In India

The India-specific version of this decision

This is the comparison where currency stops being a differentiator, because both products publish in rupees. The real question is whether the requirement is the invoice or the relationship.

On statutory scope, myBillBook is ahead of us

myBillBook publishes unlimited e-way bills and e-invoicing generation on its Pro Max plan, automatic GSTR-1, GSTR-2, and GSTR-3B report generation, and input tax credit handling. NoxOrigin produces GST invoices with the right CGST, SGST, and IGST split, GSTIN on B2B invoices, and GST-wise tax reports, and that is where our statutory story ends. We generate the paper; myBillBook generates more of the compliance paperwork around it.

On filing, neither of us files your returns

This is the line we will not cross in either direction. NoxOrigin does not file GST returns or TDS. On the myBillBook side, what we read is report generation shared with your CA, not a claim of filing on your behalf. If filing is the deciding requirement, keep a tool and an accountant who do that job, and choose your billing product on everything else. Read where a ledger ends and an operating record begins.

On the CA relationship, myBillBook is the easier arrangement

A CA included with every plan, reports generated in the format your accountant expects, and an export path to Tally is a genuine operational advantage for the many Indian businesses whose books are on Tally. NoxOrigin gives your accountant the invoices, tax reports, and payment records, and we agree the export path during scoping rather than shipping a Tally integration we have not verified.

On collection, the method matters

UPI is how most Indian business invoices get settled. NoxOrigin captures a UPI payment against the invoice and stores the transaction reference, reports collections split across cash, UPI, card, and credit, and tracks payment promises on what is late. myBillBook states it tracks payments and accepts UPI for its own subscriptions; we read no invoice-level UPI capture on the published plan contents, so we publish no claim for it. Ask them if that matters to you.

On a price comparison, be careful with the plan shapes

myBillBook’s published plans are per business and per user, and the Pro Max plan starts rather than lists a single price. NoxOrigin’s INR figures are platform plans for three, ten, and twenty-five users, and our Nox-Billings deployment is scoped rather than listed. Put both quotes in writing for your actual user and business count before you compare a rupee to a rupee, and note that the vendor’s own FAQ and plan table disagree about the starting price.

Who should choose which

Match the product to the buyer situation

A single-counter retail shop doing plain GST billing

Raise the bill, scan the barcode, print it, take UPI, hand the CA the reports. That workflow is myBillBook’s product, it costs less, and NoxOrigin is the more expensive choice for it. Review what compliant Indian invoicing must cover to test whether your requirement is really statutory or commercial.

A trading business that needs e-invoicing and e-way bills

Unlimited e-way bills and e-invoicing generation are published on the myBillBook Pro Max plan, and NoxOrigin does not provide either. If statutory documents are a hard requirement, myBillBook is the correct buy.

A services firm quoting projects and then chasing payment

The quotes live in one tool, the delivery in another, and the billing in a third, so nobody knows which clients owe money on work in progress. That is the operating-record gap NoxOrigin closes, and it is not what a billing app is built to do.

A business whose accountant is already on Tally

myBillBook’s Pro Max plan lists data export to Tally on request, and every plan includes a CA. For a business whose filing workflow is already settled, that continuity is worth real money and is the reason to choose myBillBook even if you also evaluate us.

A multi-branch business with several counter users

Branches, workspace-scoped roles, discount approvals, and a day-end review reconciling expected cash against counted cash is the NoxOrigin case, with the honest caveat that day-end close and reconciliation are assisted-setup maturity rather than self-serve.

A business that needs a general ledger

Neither product is the answer. NoxOrigin is not a ledger, myBillBook is billing software, and a counter or operating tool will not produce the financial statements your accountant signs. Keep an accounting package in charge of that work.

Switching

Migration and switching considerations

We have not migrated a customer away from myBillBook, so this is a description of the work rather than a case study with outcomes.

Expect the invoice numbering argument to come up first

A statutory invoice sequence is the one thing you cannot afford to restart carelessly. Decide before the first import whether the invoice series continues in NoxOrigin or stays in your existing system, and write the decision down. Restarting a GST invoice series mid-year is a compliance conversation, not an implementation detail.

Split the migration by record type

The lowest-risk pattern is to move the commercial chain and keep the counter history where it is. Clients, open opportunities, quotes, active projects, and unpaid invoices move. Historical invoices and their numbering stay put. That keeps your statutory record undisturbed while the relationship record gets the attention it needs.

Decide what you lose before you commit

If the shop depends on e-way bills, e-invoicing, label printing, loyalty, or WhatsApp marketing, moving to NoxOrigin means losing those capabilities outright rather than degrading them. Be honest about that at the start; it is cheaper to discover it in a scoping call than after the migration.

Rehearse with one client, not the whole book

Run a single live client end to end: opportunity, quote, delivery, invoice, recorded payment, and the balance. If those do not line up on one client they will not line up on four hundred, and running it early is much cheaper than running it in a filing month.

FAQ

Questions buyers ask us first

How much does myBillBook cost?

myBillBook publishes prices in rupees on its own pricing page. The Plus plan is listed at Rs.403 per month, or Rs.291 per month billed annually at Rs.3,490 per year. The Pro plan, marked most popular, is Rs.665 per month, or Rs.333 per month billed annually at Rs.3,990 per year. The Pro Max plan starts at Rs.1,026 per month, or Rs.570 per month billed annually. The page also states a 7-day money-back guarantee on all plans, a discount of up to 20 percent on yearly billing, and further savings on multi-year plans. One caveat we will not paper over: the FAQ on that same page says the basic plan starts at Rs.349 per month, which does not match the Plus figure in the plan table, so confirm the price you are actually quoted.

Does myBillBook file my GST returns?

On the evidence we read, no. myBillBook's homepage states that it generates GSTR-1, GSTR-2, and GSTR-3B reports automatically and shares them with your CA for faster filing and reconciliation, and every published plan includes access for one CA. That is a reporting and handoff model, not a statement that myBillBook files returns on your behalf, and we found no such claim. Confirm the current position with the vendor. For our own part, NoxOrigin does not file GST returns, TDS, or any return, and we will not imply otherwise.

What does myBillBook include that NoxOrigin does not?

Several genuinely useful things, and they are the reason a shop should buy myBillBook rather than us. The Pro plan adds a desktop app, unlimited godowns, SMS and WhatsApp marketing at 500 messages per year, barcode label printing, and bulk download and bulk print of invoices. The Pro Max plan adds unlimited e-way bills, e-invoicing generation, loyalty and rewards, automated recurring billing, point-of-sale billing on the desktop and web apps, data export to Tally on request, and a user activity tracker. NoxOrigin has none of those: no e-invoice or e-way bill generation, no loyalty programme, no WhatsApp marketing, no label printing, and no POS in the platform comparison on this page.

Why would a myBillBook user look at NoxOrigin at all?

Because billing software records the invoice, while the questions that actually cost money are about the relationship. Who owns this lead, what was quoted, what has been delivered, what has been billed, what has been paid, and what is still outstanding on that client. myBillBook's published plan feature lists do not include a CRM with lead and opportunity ownership, a quote-to-project flow, project delivery, or profitability by client and project. NoxOrigin's argument is the chain: the customer who created the opportunity is the same customer attached to the agreed scope, the work, the invoice, the payment, the outstanding balance, and the profitability.

Is myBillBook or NoxOrigin better for a single-counter retail shop?

Probably myBillBook, and we would rather say so than argue. If the business needs to raise a compliant GST bill from a phone, scan a barcode, print it, take payment, and hand reports to the CA at the end of the month, myBillBook is built for that workflow, it is priced in rupees, and its per-plan CA access is a practical advantage. NoxOrigin earns its subscription when the shop also has service or project customers whose quotes, delivery, and outstanding balances need to stay attached to the same customer record. If your operation is pure counter retail with no client work behind it, NoxOrigin is the more expensive mistake.

Can myBillBook and NoxOrigin run side by side?

Yes, and it is a reasonable first step rather than a compromise. myBillBook's Pro Max plan lists data export to Tally on request, so your accountant's handoff is a supported pattern rather than a workaround. If you run both, the rule that makes it work is deciding in writing which system owns the customer master record and which owns the invoice number, so the same client never gets two competing histories. Name the person who owns the reconciliation step.

What we read, and what we could not

Read on 4 October 2026. Both products publish in rupees, so no conversion was needed and none is asserted. Three things we deliberately publish no figure for: any plan-level claim about myBillBook expense tracking, which we saw in site navigation but not attached to a plan; the price of the Pro Max plan beyond its stated starting point; and the 1Cr+ business count, which is the vendor’s own marketing claim and unverified.

The page's own FAQ states that the basic plan starts at Rs.349 per month, which does not match the Rs.403 monthly figure shown for the Plus plan in the plan table on the same page. It also states that subscriptions are available monthly and yearly with a discount of up to 20 percent on yearly, that first-time users can avail a free trial by downloading the billing app, that payment is accepted by credit and debit cards, net banking, UPI, and digital wallets, and that tailor-made plans are available from the sales team.
