Two long-established Indian GST billing incumbents

Vyapar vs Busy for GST billing: one figure we verified, and one we could not read

Vyapar and Busy are the two names most Indian shops hear when they ask which billing software to buy, and both have years of real depth behind them. We read Busy’s published pricing today and could not load Vyapar’s site at all, so this page carries Busy figures with their source and zero Vyapar figures. Where Busy is plainly the better buy, and what to ask Vyapar yourself, is below. This page does not conclude that one of them wins.

NoxOrigin makes none of the two products compared in this article. NoxOrigin is a third product here, mentioned briefly and never as the winner, and the honest version of this disclosure is that we are a publisher who sells one of the things under discussion on some of these pages but not on this one. We describe it from our own shipped product and published INR pricing, and we have not run a Busy or Vyapar trial, so every statement about either vendor on this page is read from that vendor’s own published pages rather than from hands-on use. We make no claim about how either one feels to work in. Disclosure: on 4 October 2026 Vyapar’s website did not respond from our network, so we publish no Vyapar price, plan, user limit, or feature claim. Last verified: 4 October 2026.

Evidence and method

What we read, and what we only could not read

What we source-verified

One page: busy.in/pricing/, which returned HTTP 200 on 4 October 2026. That is the source for every Busy figure on this page, including the four desktop editions, the four subscriptions priced per 360 days, the tax line, the SQL variant, and the access-control, GST, counter, inventory, and support lines printed on the plan cards. We did not read Busy’s product documentation, we did not verify its support responsiveness, and we quote no review score, customer count, or funding figure as fact. Where Busy states something about itself, we say that it is Busy’s claim.

What we could not read at all

Vyapar. DNS resolved the Vyapar hostnames to two addresses, but no connection to either address completed on port 443 or port 80, and every request timed out with no response. That is a failure of our network, not a statement about Vyapar, and it is the reason this page has no Vyapar column filled in with prices, plan names, or features. We did not substitute a third-party figure, an aggregator, a cached quote, or a remembered number, and we will not. The honest version of a head-to-head is half a comparison plus a list of what you need to ask yourself.

Dimension by dimension

What each product actually covers

The Vyapar column is empty for a stated reason, not for lack of features. Busy’s column is read from its own pricing page today. Read the two differently, because one is evidence and the other is an absence of evidence.

DimensionVyaparBusy (source-verified 4 October 2026)
What we could verifyNothing. The site did not respond from our network, so this column contains no price, plan name, user limit, or feature claim anywhere on this page.busy.in/pricing/ returned HTTP 200. The page carries four desktop editions, four subscriptions priced per 360 days, a free Express edition, a 15-day trial call to action, and per-card feature lists. The page markup describes the product as available on Windows and Android.
How the purchase is structuredNot verifiable today. Whether the licence is one-time, annual, or subscription-based is exactly the question a shop asks first, and it is the question we cannot answer for Vyapar. Two product families on one page. The desktop editions carry a single rupee figure with no time interval printed and no renewal price beside them, and the site footer links to a separate licence renewal page. The subscriptions are labelled per 360 days, and the page’s own FAQ states that BUSY Magic has no perpetual plans and consists of four subscription plans.
Published entry priceNone published by us, because none could be read.Express at no cost, described as 100% free billing and accounting with no mobile app, listing vouchers, invoices, ledgers with receivables and payables, multi-company and multi-financial-year handling, MIS reports, and P&L and balance sheet. The cheapest paid desktop edition is Basic at INR 11,000, described as billing and accounting for a non-GST business. The cheapest subscription is START at INR 5,000 per 360 days, also described as for a non-GST business.
Which tier is the GST oneNot verifiable today. The cards name it themselves. Standard at INR 16,500 and SMART at INR 8,000 per 360 days are both described as billing, accounting and complete GST, while Basic and START are described as for non-GST businesses.
Multi-user and role behaviourNot verifiable today. This is the row where a head-to-head would normally be decided, and we are leaving it blank rather than filling it in.No per-user rupee price is published anywhere on the page, so this page publishes none. Behaviour is published: a Regular and SQL toggle on Standard and Enterprise, unlimited simultaneous users in the same office on the Standard SQL panel and in multiple offices on the Enterprise SQL panel, user-definable access rights from the Basic and START cards upward, binding data and users to selected computers or hard disks, a user activity log, voucher and master approval and rejection on Enterprise, user login scheduling and an audit trail on SMART, and higher limits of 10 users and 150 companies on POWER+.
GST compliance surfaceNot verifiable today, and we publish no compliance claim for either product. As printed on the cards: GST e-returns in JSON and direct upload of GSTR-1 or IFF on Standard; a GSTR-1 and IFF dashboard, party return status, download of all GST returns from a single window, e-way bill and e-invoice reports, GST reconciliation and filing, and GSTIN and HSN validation on SMART; multiple GSTINs in one company on POWER, which also lists a GST filing assistant and TDS or TCS reconciliation and filing under upcoming features. E-invoice and e-way bill creation is printed as “upto 10,000” on SMART, “upto 20,000” on POWER, and “upto 50,000” on POWER+, with no unit or period stated, so we reproduce the wording rather than interpret it.
Counter billing and paymentsNot verifiable today.A POS screen for fast billing on Standard and on SMART, a dynamic payment QR code on Standard, barcode scanning and QR code on SMART, orders and quotations on Standard, compound discounts and markups on SMART, an invoice management system and AI voucher scan on SMART, and tax-inclusive and MRP billing plus multi-GST billing in a single invoice on START. The page says payment QR code and QR code and never names UPI, so this page makes no UPI claim for Busy.
Inventory and productionNot verifiable today.Multiple godown inventory on Basic, multiple units per item, batch-wise inventory with manufacturing and expiry dates, production and job work, and BOM and production planning on Standard; MRP-wise stock management, parameterised item tracking, warehouses, batch, serial number, and reorder level tracking on SMART; FIFO-based stock aging and valuation and item-level stock balance control on START. Production, job work, and multi-branch management are listed as upcoming on POWER.
Accounting depth beyond billingNot verifiable today. A buyer who needs a ledger should confirm this directly rather than infer it from a billing product.Substantial and published: accounting vouchers, ledger reconciliation, all books of accounts and final results, MIS reports, ledger reports filterable by debit and credit date, receivables and payables, bill-by-bill outstanding reports, VAT-ready invoicing with multiple currencies, an MSME audit report, salesman and broker reporting, a TDS summary, and payroll, indent, and call management on Enterprise. This is the clearest reason a shop may choose Busy and not something we can argue away.
Where it runs and how it is reachedNot verifiable today. The page markup lists Windows and Android as the operating systems, and the site navigation links to a BUSY on Cloud remote-access product, a mobile app product, and a partner network. Enterprise lists working in offline and online mode and automatic data merging of head office and branch data in offline mode. We did not read the documentation behind any of this, so treat it as a published claim, not as a tested behaviour.
Support and trialNot verifiable today. The page offers a 15-day trial and a free-trial call to action stating no credit card required. Support is listed as email, WhatsApp, and call on SMART, premium voice support on POWER, email with WhatsApp chat and premium voice support on POWER+, and client or SQL support on POWER.
Scale claims and reviewsNot verifiable today.Busy’s own claims, published on the same page: that 6,00,000+ businesses use it, and four review cards reading 4.5 out of 5 from 355 reviews, 4.2 from 50, 4.4 from 41, and 4.6 from 119, while the page markup carries a single aggregate of 4.5 from 368 ratings. The two review counts disagree and the platforms are not named. We verified none of it and name no customer.
What neither column answersEverything about Vyapar today, and for Busy the SQL variant price, the multi-user price, the per-additional-user price, the renewal price, and the meaning of the asterisks on its GST rows. The page prints a single line, “GST to be added to the price”, under the plan cards without attaching it to a specific edition or plan, so every figure we publish is as printed and pre-tax on Busy’s own wording. It also prints no per-user price, no SQL price, no renewal price, and no footnote for the asterisks on Standard’s e-invoice and reconciliation rows. Ask Busy for those in writing.
Where Busy is the better buy

A ledger, not only a billing counter

On the evidence published today, Busy is the better buy for a shop whose accountant expects a real ledger behind the invoices. The cards list books of accounts and final results, ledger reconciliation, receivables and payables, bill-by-bill outstanding reports, VAT-ready invoicing, an MSME audit report, a TDS summary, and payroll, indent, and call management on Enterprise. A product that stops at the invoice is not a substitute for that, and this page does not pretend otherwise.

Busy is also the better buy when a purchase licence rather than a subscription is what you want: the desktop editions are published as single rupee figures with no interval printed, and a licence renewal is handled as a separate published page. The trade is that you own a renewal conversation rather than a monthly one, and you should ask what the renewal costs before you assume it is small.

And Busy is the better buy for a business that wants a broad module set from one vendor rather than billing plus stock plus payroll from three: production and job work, multi-branch management, offline and online working, and a partner network are all published on the same page.

Where we cannot tell you

Everything about Vyapar, and how to close it

We are not going to fill the Vyapar column with a price we half remember or a feature list copied from a comparison that did the same thing. Vyapar has been a long-established Indian billing product, and a buyer who dismisses it on the strength of a page that could not load it is making the same mistake in the other direction. What we can give you instead is the four questions that decide this purchase, so you can read both vendors on the same terms.

Ask both vendors the same four questions, in writing, and compare the answers rather than the marketing. If you want the counter-and-controls version of this question, including employee logins, discount approvals, and day-end review, our Vyapar alternative page covers that ground separately and does not need Vyapar pricing either.

In India

The India-specific version of this decision

For an Indian shop, the head-to-head usually turns on four practical things: what currency and tax basis the quote is in, whether the invoice your customer needs is a GST invoice with the right split, what happens at the counter when more than one person is billing, and how the money comes back. Here is what the source page supports on each, and where it says nothing.

Rupees, and a tax line we are not going to interpret

Busy publishes in rupees on the page we read, which is the right currency for this decision. It also prints a single line, “GST to be added to the price”, under the plan cards without attaching it to a specific edition or plan. So the honest statement is that Busy’s published figures are pre-tax and the tax is added later, and that your final number depends on which edition or plan you actually buy. We compute no total for you, because the page does not let us. We publish the platform prices in rupees too — Starter at INR 800 a month for three users, Growth at INR 1,600 for ten, Agency at INR 5,000 for twenty-five users across three workspaces — but Nox-Billings is a scoped custom deployment with no list price, so there is no Nox-Billings figure on this page. See the published NoxOrigin plans.

GST on the invoice, and the line we will not cross

Busy’s cards name which edition is the GST one, and list e-invoice and e-way bill creation, return upload, reconciliation, and GSTIN and HSN validation as published features. That is a real depth of published GST surface, and it is the reason a shop may simply choose Busy. What we will not do is tell you what GST law requires, tell you which of these features you are legally obliged to use, or claim that any product files anything on your behalf. We file no returns, and we publish no claim about what Busy does on your behalf. Keep your accountant in charge of filing and ask each vendor for a written answer about their edition.

When more than one person bills

This is where the two questions on this page meet the same problem, and it is the row we most wanted to fill for Vyapar. What Busy publishes is access behaviour rather than per-user pricing: user-definable access rights, data and users bound to selected computers, a user activity log, voucher and master approval and rejection on Enterprise, and on the subscription line user login scheduling, an audit trail, and higher limits of 10 users on POWER+. The honest reading is that Busy has published controls for a shared counter and has not published what a second seat costs, and no per-user rupee figure appears on the page. That is a question to ask Busy, and the same question to ask Vyapar, before you compare totals. See what we mean by separate staff logins in our own product.

UPI and the money coming back

Busy’s cards list a dynamic payment QR code on Standard and barcode scanning and a QR code on SMART. The page never names UPI, so we publish no UPI claim for Busy, and we are not going to tell you that a payment QR code is the same thing. We publish no claim about either vendor’s settlement or reconciliation either. On our side, UPI payment capture with the transaction reference recorded against the invoice is a NoxOrigin feature, and we name it because it is ours, not because we verified the other way round.

Who should choose which

Match the product to the buyer situation

A shop that wants the ledger and the counter in one purchase

Buy Busy. Books of accounts, ledger reconciliation, receivables and payables, TDS, an MSME audit report, payroll on Enterprise, POS, and inventory are all published on one page, and the editions and subscriptions are published in rupees. Ask for the tax-inclusive total and the renewal figure, because the page does not give you either.

A shop that wants a purchase licence instead of a yearly subscription

Busy publishes desktop editions as single rupee figures with no interval, and a separate licence renewal page, which is the shape most shops mean by a one-time purchase. If that is what you want, Busy is today’s only option on this page with a readable price for it, because we could not read Vyapar’s licensing terms at all. Ask both vendors for the licence figure, the renewal figure, and the period each covers.

A multi-branch business that needs offline working and branch data

Busy publishes multi-branch management, working in offline and online mode, automatic data merging of head office and branch data, and branch-wise reporting on Enterprise and POWER. That is a documented operational answer, and we publish no comparable figure for Vyapar, so this page cannot tell you whether Vyapar matches it.

A counter where several people bill and discounts get given away

Neither column answers this today. Ask both vendors what a second and third person cost, whether each signs in separately, whether a PIN works at the counter, whether a discount above a threshold can be blocked, and whether you can see afterwards which person created or cancelled an invoice. Busy publishes access rights, activity logs, and approval and rejection on Enterprise; we could not read the equivalent for Vyapar.

A firm that wants a shared customer record across selling and billing

That is not a billing-software question, and both products on this page answer it badly or not at all. It is also the one place NoxOrigin belongs in this article: the opportunity, the quote, the delivery, the invoice, the payment, and the outstanding balance sit on one customer record, with per-user logins and role separation. Our real gaps are equally plain — no timesheet record, no payroll, and no milestone record — so treat us as a possible second system rather than a swap for a ledger. See the commercial chain.

A buyer whose deciding requirement is statutory filing

This is not the comparison that decides it. We file no GST returns, and we publish no claim about what Busy files or assists with, only what its own cards list. Keep a competent accountant in charge of filing, ask each vendor for a written answer on the exact edition you are buying, and read the GST billing software versus ERP comparison for the category boundary.

Closing the Vyapar gap

Four questions to ask Vyapar yourself

We could not read Vyapar today, so we are not going to invent its answers. Ask these four questions of Vyapar and of Busy, in writing, and compare what comes back. The checklist is deliberately the kind that a marketing page does not answer.

What one licence costs, and what renewal costs

Ask for the licence figure, the renewal figure, and the period each covers in writing. A one-time figure with an unstated renewal is not a known cost, and we could not read Vyapar's page today, so we will not fill that gap from memory.

What a second person at the counter actually gets

Ask what the second and third user cost, whether each person signs in with their own login, whether a PIN is supported at the counter, whether a discount above a threshold can be blocked, and whether the review shows which person created, edited, or cancelled an invoice.

What the GST surface actually covers

Ask specifically about e-invoice and e-way bill generation and any volume limit on them, return upload, and whether an e-invoice limit is counted per year, per GSTIN, or per document. Publish the answer you get, and hold any vendor to the same standard we hold ourselves to here.

What happens to your data if you leave

Ask for a full export in an open format and confirm in writing whether the export includes stock, customers with their balances, and invoice history. Take the export before you decide, not after.

Running both

If you keep Busy and add something else

We have not migrated a customer away from Busy, so this is a description of the work rather than a case study with outcomes, and we name no customer on this page.

Decide what you are actually moving

A ledger, statutory reporting, and payroll are not the things to move. If the problem is that the customer who raised the order is not the customer attached to the invoice and the outstanding balance, then the realistic first move is the commercial chain around the ledger, not the ledger itself. Decide that before you evaluate anything, because it changes what a second system is for.

Agree the master record once, in writing

Two systems both claiming authority over the same customer is the most common cause of duplicate invoices and duplicated follow-ups. Agree which system owns the customer list and which owns the invoice number before the first import, and write it down where the team can find it.

Expect the recurring export, not just the cutover

If the ledger stays where it is, something has to move data on a schedule. Agree the export format, the frequency, and the person who reconciles it. Start with an export before you commit to anything, whichever vendor you are on: stock and location handling and your customer list with balances are the two things that hurt most to lose.

FAQ

Questions buyers ask us first

Why does this page not quote a single Vyapar price?

Because we could not read Vyapar's own site today, and we will not publish a remembered price. On 4 October 2026 DNS resolved vyaparapp.com, www.vyaparapp.com, and help.vyaparapp.com to two addresses, 76.223.54.146 and 13.248.169.48, but no connection to either address completed on port 443 or port 80: curl returned exit code 28 and HTTP status 000 for https://vyaparapp.com/pricing, https://www.vyaparapp.com/pricing, https://vyaparapp.com/pricing-plans, https://www.vyaparapp.com/pricing/, https://vyaparapp.com/, https://www.vyaparapp.com/, http://vyaparapp.com/pricing, and https://help.vyaparapp.com/. That is a network failure on our side, not a paywall, a 403, or evidence about Vyapar's product. It means this page carries no Vyapar price, plan name, user limit, GST feature, or any other Vyapar claim at all. Any Vyapar figure you see in a third-party comparison, including a generated one, should be treated as unverified until you have read it on Vyapar's own site.

What does Busy cost today?

From busy.in/pricing/, read on 4 October 2026, the desktop editions are listed as Express at no cost, described as 100% free billing and accounting with no mobile app; Basic at INR 11,000, described as billing and accounting for a non-GST business; Standard at INR 16,500, described as billing, accounting and complete GST and marked most popular; and Enterprise at INR 22,000, described as tailored for multi-branch operations. Each paid card carries the line '1 Mobile App for 1st Year @ No Cost'. Those four figures are printed with no time interval and no renewal price beside them, and the site footer links to a separate BUSY License Renewal page. The same page also lists BUSY Magic subscriptions per 360 days: START at INR 5,000, SMART at INR 8,000, POWER at INR 12,000, and POWER+ at INR 50,000. A single line under the plan cards reads 'GST to be added to the price', and the page does not attach that line to a specific edition or plan, so we publish every figure exactly as printed and compute no total with tax.

Which Busy product is the GST billing one?

The plan cards say so themselves. Among the desktop editions, Basic is described as 'Billing, Accounting for Non-GST Business' and Standard as 'Billing, Accounting & Complete GST'. Among the subscriptions, START is described as 'Billing, Accounting for Non-GST Business' and SMART as 'Billing, Accounting & Complete GST'. Standard adds GST e-returns in JSON, direct upload of GSTR-1 or IFF, auto e-invoice and e-way bill generation, auto download and reconcile of GSTR 1, 3B, 2A and 2B, and party return status. SMART adds a GSTR-1 and IFF dashboard, e-way bill and e-invoice creation stated as 'upto 10,000' with no unit or period printed, party return status, download of all GST returns from a single window, e-way bill and e-invoice reports, GST reconciliation and filing, and GSTIN and HSN validation. POWER raises the printed e-invoice and e-way bill figure to 'upto 20,000' and POWER+ to 'upto 50,000'. We are reporting the page, not advising you on what GST law requires of your business.

Does Busy charge per user?

We could not find a per-user rupee price anywhere on the page, so this page publishes none. What the page does show is behaviour rather than price. Standard and Enterprise each carry a Regular and SQL toggle, and the SQL panel for Standard lists 'Supports unlimited simultaneous users in same office' while the Enterprise panel lists 'Supports unlimited simultaneous users in multiple offices'. On access control, Basic lists 'User-definable Access Rights', Standard adds 'Bind Data/User with Hard Disks' and 'User Activity Log', and Enterprise adds 'Voucher/Master Approval & Rejection'. In the subscription line, START lists 'User-definable Access Rights', SMART lists 'User login scheduling', 'Bind data and users to selected computers' and 'Audit trail', POWER adds 'Client / SQL support', and POWER+ lists higher usage limits of 10 users and 150 companies. The page's own FAQ states that Smart, Power, and Power Plus plans also allow additional users. Ask Busy directly what an additional user costs on the edition you are buying, because the page does not say.

Does Busy file GST returns for me?

We are not going to answer that for you, and we will not turn a feature label into compliance advice. What the page publishes is this: the Standard card lists 'GST e-returns in JSON' and 'Direct Upload of GSTR-1 / IFF', and the SMART card lists 'GST reconciliation and filing' as a current feature, while the POWER card lists 'GST Filing Assistant' and 'TDS / TCS reconciliation and filing' under the heading 'Upcoming Features'. Publishing those side by side, without resolving the tension for you, is the honest way to report one vendor's own page. We publish no claim about what Busy does on your behalf, and we make no statement about what any product is legally required to do. Keep your accountant in charge of filing and ask Busy directly for a written answer on the edition and plan you intend to buy.

Where does NoxOrigin fit in this comparison, and is it a cheaper Busy?

NoxOrigin is a third product in this article, not one of the two being compared, and we make one of them, so we disclose that up front and keep it brief. Our platform pricing is published in rupees: Starter at INR 800 per month for three users, Growth at INR 1,600 per month for ten users, and Agency at INR 5,000 per month for twenty-five users across three workspaces. Nox-Billings is a scoped custom deployment and carries no list price at all. We are not a Busy replacement for a shop that needs a general ledger, statutory reporting, TDS, or payroll, and we do not file GST returns. Where we are genuinely different is per-user login with role separation, and one shared customer record carried across CRM and billing. The gaps are real: no timesheet record, no payroll, and no milestone record. Read the Busy column first and treat us as a possible second system, not as the answer to the same question.

What we read, and what we could not

Read on 4 October 2026. One Busy page produced every Busy figure on this page, and one failure produced the empty Vyapar column. We publish no Vyapar figure of any kind, no per-user price for Busy because the page prints none, no SQL or renewal price, and no total including tax because the page attaches its tax line to no specific edition. Where a vendor states something about itself, this page reports it as their claim and not as our finding.

Vyapar's public website, attempted 4 October 2026

Vyapar's site did not respond from our network. The tax line printed under the plan cards

One line sits under the plan cards and reads '*GST to be added to the price'. The page does not attach it to a specific edition or plan, so this page publishes every rupee figure exactly as printed and computes no total including tax. Separately, the Standard card marks several GST rows with an asterisk, including 'Auto E-Invoice & E-Way Bill Generation' and 'Auto Download & Reconcile GSTR 1/3B/2A/2B', and no footnote explaining those asterisks is printed anywhere on the page, so we do not explain them either.

The SQL variant, simultaneous users, and the absence of a per-user price

Standard and Enterprise each carry a Regular and SQL toggle, and the SQL panels list 'Effortlessly manages large data volumes', 'Remote access for flexible working', 'Supports unlimited simultaneous users in same office' for Standard and 'Supports unlimited simultaneous users in multiple offices' for Enterprise, 'No data size limits to support business growth', 'Uninterrupted processing safeguards against network issues', and 'Secure server backups protect valuable data'. The page publishes no separate rupee price for the SQL variant, and the Single User and Multi-User selector in the page markup is commented out, so the plan tables show one price with no multi-user price. No per-user rupee figure appears anywhere on the page, so this page publishes none.

POWER adds 'Manage multiple GSTINs in one company' and 'Create EWB + E-Invoice upto 20,000', and lists 'GST Filing Assistant' and 'TDS / TCS reconciliation and filing' under 'Upcoming Features'. POWER+ lists 'Create EWB + E-Invoice upto 50,000'. The page says 'Payment QR Code' and 'QR code' and never names UPI anywhere, so this page makes no UPI claim for Busy.

The free edition, the trial, and Busy own scale and review claims

The header offers 'Try BUSY free for 15 days' and a call to action reads 'Start Free Trial' with 'No Credit Card Required'. The page states 'Join 6,00,000+ growing businesses who trust Busy for their financial management'. It also shows four review-score cards reading 4.5 out of 5 from 355 reviews, 4.2 out of 5 from 50 reviews, 4.4 out of 5 from 41 reviews, and 4.6 out of 5 from 119 reviews, while the page markup carries a single aggregate rating of 4.5 out of 5 from 368 ratings. Those two review counts do not match, and the platform behind each card is not named on the page. All of these are Busy own claims. We did not verify them, we publish no customer count, rating, or review figure of our own, and we name no customer.
