Zoho Billing
Source-verified price The page displayed Standard at US$39 per organization per month billed annually and US$50 monthly, and Premium at US$79 annually and US$100 monthly, with a timesheet user add-on listed at US$3 monthly or US$2.5 annually. Zoho states prices are exclusive of GST. We publish the figure as displayed, in the currency shown, and we do not convert it into rupees.
What it is genuinely good at
Being the only entry on this page whose vendor explicitly documents multi-user roles as a headline feature. Zoho states that multi-user access has customisable roles and access levels, with 3 users on Standard and 10 on Premium and user add-ons beyond that. For a business that has outgrown a shared login but does not need a POS, that is a real answer. It also covers recurring invoices, trial management and advanced subscription management, which free invoicing tools do not.
Real limitations
Two hard ceilings sit on the vendor’s own page and both deserve attention before you buy. Standard and Premium allow up to 100,000 invoices per year only while annual revenue, the total billed amount, stays under INR 8 crore; past that you are talking to support. And the scan allowance is real: 200 scans a month on Standard and 1000 on Premium and above, which matters the moment you start reading barcodes at the counter. The currency is also an open question for an Indian buyer, since the page served us US dollars while describing rupee-based limits.
Who should skip it
Skip it if you sell physical stock, because the scan allowances and the absence of a warehousing story on this page point at Zoho Inventory instead. Skip it if your business could cross INR 8 crore of annual billing, because that is a documented boundary rather than a matter of taste. And skip it if you need a staff PIN at a shared counter, which we could not verify on this page.
Zoho Invoice
Source-verified price INR 0, stated on the vendor’s page as free forever for all Indian businesses, with 24x5 free email support included.
What it is genuinely good at
The invoicing job, properly, at no cost: GST-compliant invoices in one click with tax breakup, quotes, recurring invoices, invoice sending over email or WhatsApp, personalisation of logo and colours, and apps for Android, iOS, Windows and Mac. It is genuinely free rather than free for a trial period, which almost nothing else on this page is.
Real limitations
Three, all stated by the vendor. Up to two users, which rules it out for any counter that runs a shift. Up to 500 invoices per year, which a moderately busy counter can reach. And the free product carries Powered by Zoho Invoice branding, which matters if you send invoices to customers rather than to yourself. One more worth knowing even though it is a policy rather than a feature: Zoho states that a user inactive for more than 180 days has associated data deleted within the following 20 days.
Who should skip it
Skip it if more than one person touches the billing, because two users is the ceiling. Skip it if you need stock, staff permissions, approvals or a day-end, because none of those are what this product is. And skip it if your invoices go to external customers who should not see a vendor mark on them.
Tally TallyPrime
Check vendor pricing We reached Tally’s TallyPrime page and its pricing path on 4 October 2026 and read the feature scope, but no price was exposed in the version of the page we could read, so this page quotes no TallyPrime price. The page does confirm a 7-day free trial and a TallyPrime Monthly product line. Check vendor pricing directly.
What it is genuinely good at
Being an accounting system that happens to do billing, rather than the reverse, and for a business that is correct. The scope named on the page is accounting and billing, inventory management, business reports, GST returns and reconciliation, connected e-invoice and e-way bill, cash and credit management, and security and user management. GST return filing and reconciliation living in the same product as the ledger is the thing competitors on this page do not offer.
Real limitations
We cannot give you a cost, which on a page about choosing software is the most important number, and we will not approximate it. We also did not read how TallyPrime models staff permissions beyond naming security and user management, so we make no claim about PIN access or discount approval. And the honest structural limit is that an accounting ledger optimises for the ledger; a live counter, a shift and a person on a till are not what it is built around.
Who should skip it
Skip it if your need is operational rather than statutory, meaning a counter with staff who need controlled access and a discount approval path. Skip it if you want the ledger and the operating record to be the same thing, because that is a different design goal. Our fuller argument on where an accounting ledger ends and an operating record begins is on our TallyPrime alternative page.
Zoho Inventory
Check vendor pricing We reached the vendor pricing page on 4 October 2026. It is marked as exclusive of GST and shows paid tiers with 3, 5 and 10 user options, but the figures were not exposed in the version we could read, so this page quotes no price. Check vendor pricing. Confirmed on the page: a free forever plan, a 14-day free trial, and 24x5 free support.
What it is genuinely good at
Stock, specifically and properly. The page names advanced inventory with business intelligence, advanced autoscans, advanced warehousing, and positions the product as running a retail business end to end with purchasing, online payments and inventory insight. It also signals structured onboarding through a named Jumpstart programme, which for a stock operation is arguably the part that determines whether the software works.
Real limitations
No readable price, which is the practical blocker here. The user options of 3, 5 and 10 tell you the plan structure changes with headcount but not what any of them cost. We did not verify a discount-approval control, PIN access, or a day-end close process on this page, and for a counter with staff those are the features that would decide it. Enterprise is sold through a sales conversation rather than a published price.
Who should skip it
Skip it if you do not hold stock, because warehousing and autoscans are the reason to buy it. And skip it if you need a published price before a conversation, because we could not give you one today and neither, from what we read, can you.
NoxOrigin and Nox-Billings
Our own product, our own numbers NoxOrigin is a commercial operating record and the named Nox-Billings product is sold as a scoped custom deployment rather than a self-serve subscription, so this entry is about the NoxOrigin platform plan. Our published plans are Starter at INR 800 per month for three users and one workspace, Growth at INR 1,600 for ten users, and Agency at INR 5,000 for twenty-five users across three workspaces, with published add-on rates for extra users and extra workspaces. A 30-day trial applies to Growth only.
What it is genuinely good at
Making the counter attributable. Staff who need the system for one function sign in with a PIN tied to their own person record rather than sharing a login, which is what makes a shift, a scan or a counter action traceable to a person even on a business-owned tablet. Discount approval, quotes, invoices and payment recording are separate explicit permissions, so a delivery role can run the work without being able to raise money documents, and a manager approval can be required with the override recorded for later review. Quotes, GST invoices, payments and receivables all sit against the client and the work that caused them.
Real limitations
The first is a maturity disclosure about our own product. In our capability register, Nox-Billings day-end is at assisted-setup status rather than fully self-serve, so we are not going to claim a self-serve day-end close for the dedicated deployment. The rest: NoxOrigin is not an accounting package and does not file GST returns, it is not a payroll or attendance system, there is no contract editor and no e-signature, and permission design has a real operational cost. Our own platform page is blunt about it: a PIN on a sticker beside the till is not access control, and two staff sharing one PIN recreates the exact problem it was meant to solve.
Who should skip it
Skip it if you need statutory accounting, ledgers and filing, because TallyPrime on this page is built for that and we would rather you had it. Skip it if you want a published self-serve price for the Nox-Billings product specifically, because that is a scoped quote, not a list price. And skip it if a single person does all the billing, because the permission model is then solving a problem you do not have.
