Free CRM tier versus a paid seat

NoxOrigin vs HubSpot: what the free tier really gives you, and what the paid seat costs

HubSpot’s free CRM is genuinely generous and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Two users, a thousand contacts, no expiry, and a real list of features at no cost is a hard thing to argue with. The useful question is where that free tier stops, and what the step up costs an Indian business in rupees and in onboarding fees.

NoxOrigin makes one of the products compared in this article. We are not a neutral third party. Everything we say about NoxOrigin comes from our own published product documentation and pricing. Everything we say about HubSpot is read from HubSpot’s own pages on 4 October 2026, and we did not run a HubSpot trial, so we make no claims about how it feels to use. One method note that matters here: HubSpot renders its pricing tables with JavaScript, so a normal browser request returns an application shell with no plan text in it. The HubSpot figures below come from the same URLs served to a crawler user agent, which is the version search engines index. Confirm anything you rely on against your own quote.

Evidence and method

What we tested, and what we only read

What we tested

NoxOrigin only. We use the product daily and describe it from what we ship: our published INR plans, the seven chain records, GST invoicing, UPI payment capture, and the reports that read quoted, billed, and collected value per client. NoxOrigin is a young product with a small number of live deployments and we say so where that matters.

We have not run a HubSpot trial. We did not test its free tier, its onboarding, or its support response, and we quote no review scores, rankings, or user counts for either product.

What we source-verified

HubSpot’s own CRM pricing page, its main pricing page, and its free-CRM product page, all read on 4 October 2026. We could confirm plan names, the free-tier user and contact limits, the included free feature list, the Starter per-seat figures, and the Professional and Enterprise tiers with their required onboarding fees.

We could not confirm an INR figure, because the page offered a currency selector and rendered US dollars. We do not convert it. We also found no GST, statutory, or Indian payment method described on the pages we read, so we describe those rows as unverified rather than guessing.

Dimension by dimension

What each product actually covers

HubSpot is a marketing, sales, and service platform. NoxOrigin is a commercial operating record. Several rows below are genuinely different jobs rather than one product being better.

The free tierNo free plan. Starter is INR 800 per month for three users, one workspace, 10 active projects, and 1,000 contacts.Free Tools at $0 per month, stated as free for up to 2 users with no credit card required, and separately described by HubSpot as up to two users, 1,000 contacts, no limits on customer data, and 100% free with no expiration date.
What the free tier includesNot applicable at this tier.HubSpot lists contact, deal and task management, email tracking and engagement notifications, email templates and scheduling, document sharing, meeting scheduling, live chat, and sales quotes. Its page states that more advanced CRM features are in the premium editions.
Entry paid priceStarter INR 800 per month, annual INR 8,000. Growth INR 1,600 per month for ten users. Agency INR 5,000 per month for twenty-five users across three workspaces.Starter described as starting at $7 per seat per month with a $20 per seat per month figure also shown, a billing-period selector between monthly, committed monthly, and annual, and a new-customer promotion of up to 65% off. Check vendor pricing for your quote.
The next step upGrowth at INR 1,600 per month adds Razorpay payment links, multiple sales processes, 50 active projects, 10,000 contacts, and a 30-day trial.Marketing Hub Professional starting at $800 per month, including 3 Core Seats with additional seats from $45 per month, plus a required one-time Professional Onboarding fee of $3,000. Enterprise starts at $3,600 per month with a required one-time fee of $7,000.
How seats are countedA published user count per plan, with an add-on of INR 500 per month for five more users. No requirement to license employees who never log in.Core Seats, with a stated rule that all Core Seats in an account are priced at the highest level across all products in the subscription. View-only Seats are available at no additional cost.
CRM, pipelines, and follow-upCompanies, contacts, leads, opportunities, owner, sales process, stage, dated next action, lost reason, and a shared Inbox for customer conversations.A contact, deal, and task model with pipelines, goals, sales analytics, meeting scheduling, and calling included in its published feature tables at the paid tier.
Marketing and email at the entry tierNot a product area. NoxOrigin is not a marketing automation or email sending tool and we do not pretend otherwise.Marketing Hub is the centre of HubSpot’s offer, with email marketing, ad management, lead capture, social publishing, and content tools, metered partly through HubSpot Credits.
Projects and deliveryProjects, tasks, task lists, assignments, due dates, and recurring follow-ups attached to the client and opportunity that caused the work.HubSpot Work is listed as Beta in its own feature table, alongside limited automation and sales and service analytics. Treat project depth as something to test rather than assume.
QuotingQuotes with line items and tax treatment, raised against the client and project and converted into an invoice without re-keying.Sales quotes are listed as an inclusion of the free CRM. What HubSpot does with a quote after that, and at what tier, is not described on the pages we read.
GST invoicing and Indian statutory complianceGST invoices with automatic CGST and SGST splits for intra-state sales and IGST for inter-state, B2B invoices with GSTIN fields, and GST-wise tax reports. We do not claim statutory return filing, e-invoicing, or e-way bills.Nothing on the pages we read describes GST invoicing, GSTIN handling, Indian tax splits, or Indian statutory compliance. Verify in a trial or ask HubSpot in writing.
Payments and collectionsUPI payment capture with a transaction reference, payment reports split by cash, UPI, card and credit, payment promises, and receivables. Razorpay payment links from the Growth plan upward. No Indian payment method, including UPI, is described on the pages we read. HubSpot lists calling, ticketing and commerce-adjacent capabilities in its feature tables; confirm your own collection flow before you rely on it.
Multi-user counter and staff controlWorkspace-scoped permissions, PIN-based staff access, manager approvals, supervisor overrides, and audit history, so every counter action has a person attached to it.A CRM seat model built around named users, not a counter-shift model. Nothing on the pages we read describes shift close, cash counting, or discount approval at a till.
Inventory and point of saleCommerce area: catalog, stock, warehouses, purchasing, promotions, POS billing, and day-end reconciliation. Day-end currently sits at an assisted-setup maturity rather than self-serve.Not the product’s centre. Commerce capabilities appear in HubSpot’s wider family rather than on the pricing pages we read. Verify scope and cost for your trading model.
Mobile and offlineWeb and Android access, and offline-capable QR scanning in Events. We do not claim offline billing at a counter, so test your own connectivity assumptions.HubSpot lists a mobile app in its feature tables. We did not verify offline behaviour, and we make no claim about it either way.
Pricing currency for an Indian buyerINR, published, including annual totals and add-on rates for extra users and extra workspaces. The page offered a currency selector and rendered US dollars. We do not convert, so your INR cost depends on the billing entity and payment terms. Check vendor pricing.
Support and implementationDirect support from the NoxOrigin team. Dedicated NoxCRM, Nox-Billings, and Nox-Tickets deployments are scoped quotes rather than self-serve subscriptions, and live deployments are few.A published sales phone number on the pricing page and a Talk to Sales path on Professional and Enterprise, plus required one-time onboarding fees at those two tiers. We did not test support responsiveness and make no claim about it.
HubSpot, in full

What HubSpot is genuinely good at, and where it stops

What it is genuinely good at

Getting a business from nothing to a working customer database quickly. HubSpot’s free tier is not a trial that expires and it is not a crippled demo: HubSpot itself describes it as 100% free with no expiration date, up to two users and 1,000 contacts, and the feature list includes deal and task management, email tracking, document sharing, meeting scheduling, live chat, and sales quotes. For a founder or a two-person team that is a real working CRM for nothing.

It is also strong where NoxOrigin is not competing at all: marketing automation, email sending, ad management, lead capture, and content. HubSpot’s own feature tables list ad management by ad type, simple ad automation, social publishing, and blog tooling. If your growth problem is filling the pipeline, that is the part of HubSpot you would actually be buying, and we do not attempt to replace it.

Verified current pricing, and where we stopped

Free Tools at $0 per month, free for up to two users, no credit card required. Starter starting at $7 per seat per month with a $20 per seat per month figure also on the card, a billing-period selector across monthly, committed monthly, and annual, and a promotion of up to 65% off Starter for new customers for a limited time. Marketing Hub Professional starting at $800 per month including three Core Seats, additional seats from $45 per month, and a required one-time onboarding fee of $3,000. Enterprise starting at $3,600 per month including five Core Seats, additional seats from $75 per month, and a required one-time onboarding fee of $7,000.

We stopped there on purpose. We could not verify a current INR figure, so we publish none, and we do not convert dollars into rupees anywhere on this page. Your cost in rupees depends on the entity HubSpot invoices, the exchange rate on the day, and whether GST is charged on the invoice, which is a question for HubSpot and your accountant rather than for us.

Real limitations

The two-person ceiling is the first one, and it is a hard one for an Indian small business that grows: the moment a third person needs to see the pipeline, the free tier is over. The second is the shape of the step up. A required one-time onboarding fee of $3,000 at Professional is a different kind of purchase from a subscription, and for a business choosing between INR 1,600 and an eight-thousand-dollar entry decision, that difference deserves a straight look rather than a footnote.

The third is the one we could not verify either way, and we will not dress it up: nothing on the pages we read describes GST invoicing, GSTIN handling, CGST and SGST versus IGST splits, or Indian statutory compliance. If your business raises compliant Indian invoices, that invoice has to live somewhere. Verify it yourself rather than taking our word, ours or anyone else’s, on the strength of a feature list.

Who should skip HubSpot

Skip it if your business is two people and the CRM is genuinely the whole job. Nothing beats a free tier at zero, and we would be selling you something to fix a problem you do not have. Skip it if your main problem is marketing volume and you need the marketing stack rather than an operating record. And skip it, with regret, if the required Professional onboarding fee is larger than the business can justify for the problem it solves.

Best when HubSpot is the right choice

HubSpot is the right buy when lead generation and pipeline volume are the constraint, when the team is small enough that two users is the plan, and when marketing automation is worth paying for on its own terms. It is also the right buy when a client, an investor, or a hiring candidate already expects HubSpot, because that familiarity has real value.

When HubSpot is the wrong choice

It is the wrong choice when the hard part of your day is not generating leads but collecting money for work already delivered: the quote, the GST invoice, the delivery record, and the payment sitting in four places with somebody copying the client name between them. It is also the wrong choice when you need a multi-user counter with staff logins and discount approvals, or Indian tax treatment, neither of which is what this product is built around.

NoxOrigin, in full

What NoxOrigin is good at, and where it stops

What it is genuinely good at

Keeping the commercial chain connected. The same client record carries the company and contacts, the opportunity and its owner, the project, the tasks, the quote, the invoice, and the payment. That matters for Indian operations specifically: GST invoices with the right split for an intra-state or inter-state sale, B2B invoices carrying a GSTIN, UPI capture with the transaction reference recorded, and payment reports split across cash, UPI, card, and credit.

It is also strong at the operational control surface: workspace-scoped permissions, PIN-based staff access so a shift and a scan are attributable to a person rather than a device, manager approvals, supervisor overrides, and audit history. And it reads the money as four separate states per client, quoted, billed, collected, and outstanding, with receivables aged rather than marked paid.

Verified current pricing

Our own published plan list: Starter INR 800 per month or INR 8,000 annually for three users, one workspace, 10 active projects, and 1,000 contacts; Growth INR 1,600 per month or INR 15,000 annually for ten users, 50 active projects, 10,000 contacts, Razorpay payment links, multiple sales processes, and a 30-day trial; Agency INR 5,000 per month or INR 48,000 annually for twenty-five users across three workspaces, 250 active projects, and 50,000 contacts. Add-ons are INR 500 per month for five more users and INR 750 per month for an additional workspace. These are platform plans. The dedicated NoxCRM, Nox-Billings, and Nox-Tickets deployments are scoped custom quotes and are not sold as self-serve subscriptions, so no plan price on this page applies to them.

Real limitations

Be clear about our scale. NoxOrigin is young, live deployments are few, and the dedicated product deployments are quote-only rather than something you can sign up for on a Tuesday afternoon. We do not offer the marketing automation, ad management, or email-sending surface that is the reason many people choose HubSpot in the first place. We are not a general ledger, we do not file statutory returns, and we do not claim e-invoicing or e-way bills.

There is no change-request record, no milestone record, and no deliverable record in the product, and no contract editor and no e-signature. Day-end and reconciliation sit at an assisted-setup maturity rather than a self-serve one, which means someone from our side helps configure that workflow. If your buying criteria include a long public operating history, a large partner network, or marketing automation, we are the weaker option and we would rather say so here than in a demo.

Who should skip NoxOrigin

Skip NoxOrigin if two people and a free CRM is the whole requirement, because you should not pay INR 800 for a subset of something you already get at zero. Skip it if your growth engine is marketing automation and email, which we do not build. Skip it if you need a general ledger, statutory filing, or audit readiness, because we are not an accounting package. And skip it if you cannot work with a young vendor, because that is a legitimate reason and we will not argue you out of it.

Best when NoxOrigin fits

NoxOrigin fits when the work is billable and the billing currently lives somewhere else: an eight-person agency whose delivery tool knows the project is finished while the billing tool does not, a services firm chasing GST invoices across a shared inbox, or a business whose third and fourth employees need system access and therefore needs a paid tier anyway. It fits best where INR pricing, GST invoicing, and UPI capture are first-class rather than bolt-ons.

When NoxOrigin is the wrong choice

Stay on the HubSpot free tier when your entire workflow fits inside it. A two-person team raising quotes, tracking deals, and emailing customers needs an operating record the way a bicycle needs a car, which is to say not at all. No paid plan of ours, at any price, is a better answer than zero for that business.

Choose HubSpot instead if you need marketing automation, ad management, or email at scale, because that is a real product area for them and an absence for us. Choose it if your procurement process requires a large established vendor with a long public track record, a partner network in your city, and enterprise governance tiers to evaluate, because we have none of those and pretending otherwise would waste your evaluation time.

And choose a dedicated accounting package if statutory filing, bank reconciliation, financial statements, and audit readiness are the requirements. NoxOrigin produces invoices and tax reports for review. It does not produce a general ledger. See where a ledger ends and an operating record begins.

Who should choose which

Match the product to the buyer situation

A two-person consultancy with a WhatsApp-based pipeline

Deals tracked in a shared chat, quotes typed by hand, invoices raised in a spreadsheet. HubSpot’s free tier is a genuine step up from that for nothing, and it is the right first move. Revisit when the second invoice gets mis-keyed.

A four-person agency billing for delivery every month

Four people need access, so a free tier is already off the table, and the choice becomes a CRM alone or a CRM with the commercial chain attached. NoxOrigin Growth at INR 1,600 per month is the cheaper of those two shapes once collection is part of the job. See the agency workflow.

A D2C brand buying ads and also raising B2B invoices

Marketing is the bigger bill and marketing is what pays. Use HubSpot or whatever your ad stack is for demand, and put the commercial record somewhere that handles GST properly. This is a case where both products have a legitimate job, and the honest answer is that they are not substitutes.

A retail counter with three staff and a cash drawer

A CRM seat model does not give you a shift record. What this situation needs is employee logins, discount approvals, stock, and a day-end the owner can read. That is the Commerce area, and it is a different conversation from either product on this page. Review multi-user counter software.

A team that has already standardised on HubSpot

Existing templates, existing automations, existing knowledge, and a client who already has a HubSpot login. The switching cost is real and the benefit is a cleaner invoice trail, which may not be worth it. Keep HubSpot and fix the gap where it actually hurts. Read the honest cost of running tools separately.

FAQ

Questions buyers ask us first

What do you actually get on HubSpot's free CRM?

HubSpot's own product page states that its free CRM gives up to two users, 1,000 contacts, and no limits on customer data, is 100% free, and has no expiration date. The features it lists as included are contact, deal and task management, email tracking and engagement notifications, email templates and scheduling, document sharing, meeting scheduling, live chat, and sales quotes. That page also says more advanced CRM features are available only in the premium editions.

How much is a paid HubSpot seat?

HubSpot's pricing page lists a Free Tools tier at $0 per month, free for up to 2 users with no credit card required, and a Starter tier described as essential marketing, sales, service, content, and data management software starting at $7 per seat per month, with a $20 per seat per month figure shown alongside it. The card offers a billing-period choice between paying monthly, committing monthly, and paying annually, plus a Save up to 65% on Starter promotion limited to new customers. Because the page moves those figures with a selector, we do not assert which toggle produces which number. Check vendor pricing and your own quote for the figure you would pay.

What does it cost to move past HubSpot Starter?

Two figures on the same page matter more than the Starter price. HubSpot lists Marketing Hub Professional starting at $800 per month, which includes 3 Core Seats with additional Core Seats starting at $45 per month, and states that a required one-time Professional Onboarding fee of $3,000 is not included in that figure. Enterprise starts at $3,600 per month, includes 5 Core Seats with additional seats from $75 per month, and carries a required one-time Enterprise Onboarding fee of $7,000. All figures are in US dollars and we do not convert them to INR.

Does HubSpot do GST invoicing or UPI payments in India?

We found no GST, Indian statutory compliance, or Indian payment method described on the HubSpot pages we read on 4 October 2026. The free tier includes sales quotes, and HubSpot's published feature tables list calling, ticketing, and commerce-adjacent capabilities, but an Indian compliant invoice, GSTIN handling, CGST and SGST versus IGST splits, and UPI collection with a transaction reference are not covered by what we could verify. Treat any such claim as something to test in a trial or ask HubSpot about in writing for your billing entity.

Should a two-person Indian business just stay on the free tier?

Very possibly yes, and we would rather say so than sell against it. If two people are raising quotes, tracking deals, and chasing invoices by hand and that is genuinely the whole workflow, the free tier costs nothing and nothing we sell beats zero. The free tier stops being enough at the point where the business needs a third person with access, a fourth team member, or the commercial chain connected: quote to project to invoice to recorded payment on one record.

Why would anyone leave HubSpot's free CRM?

The trigger is rarely the price of the CRM. It is what sits next to it. A free CRM that holds the client relationship while the quote, the GST invoice, the delivery record, and the payment each live somewhere else still leaves the reconciliation to a person. NoxOrigin connects those objects on one record so the outstanding question has an answer, at INR 800 per month for three users on the Starter plan.
