The questions an owner actually asks

A small business owner dashboard that starts with what needs attention.

Most dashboards open on a chart and leave you to work out what to do about it. NoxOrigin opens on Today — attention items, assigned work, active projects — and puts the money beside it: who owes you, what you have billed, what has actually come in, and which projects are late. For a trading business, it also shows how the day went. If any of this needs a second spreadsheet to make sense of it, it is not finished.

Money to collect, work that needs a decision, and delivery ready to bill — on one operating screen.

What an owner ends up without one

The common thread is not a missing chart. It is that nobody required the number to come from a record anybody else also uses.

The owner only knows on Friday

There is no view during the week, so every business decision waits for a monthly or weekly number that is already out of date by the time it is discussed.

A verbal report replaces a record

The shift supervisor recounts the day, the accountant recounts the month, and the two versions differ by exactly the amount nobody is accountable for.

Charts without a source

A graph of performance is shown without the records behind it, so it cannot be checked and therefore cannot be trusted when it matters.

One person can do everything

The same login prepares the invoice, records the payment, and edits the rate, which makes every discrepancy impossible to investigate and every mistake invisible.

The nine questions an owner actually asks

This is the whole page, honestly. If one of these has no answer in your business today, that is the gap worth fixing first.

What needs attention today?

Today opens on a list you can act on: what is due, what is overdue, what is blocked, and what is waiting on your decision. You do not read a chart and work out what it means before you can start the day.

Who owes me money?

Client money shows what each client has been billed, what they have paid, and what is still outstanding — per client, and by how long it has been late. The collection call starts from a figure both sides already accept.

What have I billed?

Every invoice raised in NoxOrigin, with its tax breakup and payment state. Work that was delivered but not yet invoiced shows up as a gap on the project, rather than as a surprise at the end of the month.

What have I actually collected?

Payments are recorded against the invoice they settle, so collected value is what came in rather than what was expected. An unpaid invoice stays visible after it goes overdue instead of being written off in someone's head.

Which projects are late?

Projects carry their dates, status, and members, so a project that has slipped is something you can see and chase this week, not something you remember being worried about.

Which client or job made money?

Quoted, billed, collected, and outstanding read together per client and per project, so you can name the work that made money rather than the work that felt busy.

Can I see it on my phone?

Yes. Today is built for the phone, because the question usually arrives when you are between customers. The full commercial detail is on the desktop workspace and is readable on a phone when you need it.

Can my staff see everything?

No, and that is deliberate. Reading commercial reporting, recording a payment, and raising an invoice are separate permissions, so an admin can maintain customers and counters without being able to move money. Every sensitive action is recorded, so who did what has an answer.

Can my accountant export it?

Yes. Reports export rather than being trapped on a screen, so the number in the meeting with your accountant or your bank is the number in the system.

Where the numbers come from, and what that costs you to trust

Every figure above is read from the invoices, payments and projects your team already creates. There is no second set of numbers to maintain, and no report somebody has to rebuild by hand before a review.

The limit is worth stating plainly: a number is only as good as the records behind it. If the delivery work was never logged, the margin figure will be confidently wrong. NoxOrigin can only show you what somebody entered — which is exactly why the money reads the work rather than a copy of it.

The dashboard is useful between customers, not only at the desk

Today on mobile is built for the owner who is not sitting down when the question arrives.

What this is not

Saying no here is more useful than a yes. None of these is NoxOrigin, and if one of them is what you actually need, we would rather say so now than take the subscription.

A reporting project built on a copy of your data

NoxOrigin does not build custom reports on a separate copy of your data, and it is not somewhere a reporting project gets absorbed as a favour. You get the reporting NoxOrigin ships, reading the records your team already keeps. If you need a number nobody has defined a record for, say so on the walkthrough and we will scope it as work rather than pretend it is included.

Payroll, filings, and statutory reporting

No salary, no payroll, no statutory return, and no tax computed for filing. Those stay with your accountant and the software built for them. NoxOrigin holds the invoice and payment records the return arithmetic is worked out from.

Something that watches your systems and alerts you

There is no live wallboard, and nothing that alerts you when a number crosses a threshold or looks wrong. This is a view of your business records for the people running the business, not a monitoring system that pages somebody at 3am.

Appraisals and performance reviews

No goals, no reviews, no ratings, and no one-to-ones. A dashboard that reports on people instead of on records becomes an argument, and then nobody reads it.

It is a view, not an add-on to buy

Growth is ₹1,600/month or ₹15,000/year with a 30-day trial and 10 users, and every plan includes the same reading of the same records. The dashboard is not an upsell; it is what the subscription is for.

Owner dashboard questions

What should a small business owner dashboard actually show?

Three things, in this order: what needs attention today, what money is outstanding and from whom, and whether the work being sold is being delivered. A dashboard that starts with charts misses all three. NoxOrigin opens on Today — attention items, assigned work, active projects — because an owner’s first question is rarely a percentage.

Are these numbers a calculation, or are they the records themselves?

The records. Client money, project economics, and receivables read the invoices, payments, and delivery records the business already produced. The numbers come from the invoices, payments and projects already in NoxOrigin, so you don't maintain a second dashboard.

Can I check it from outside the office?

Yes. Today is available on mobile, which is the view designed for a person between customers rather than at a desk. The desktop workspace is where the commercial and delivery detail lives, and it is readable on a phone when the question arrives away from the counter.

What about staff — will they see everything?

No, and that is the design rather than a limitation to work around. Reading commercial reporting, recording a payment, and raising an invoice are separate permissions, so an admin can maintain customers and catalogs without holding the ability to move money. The audit log records sensitive actions, which is what makes the question of who did what answerable rather than debatable.

Can I get the data out?

Yes. Reports can be exported rather than being trapped in a screen, so a review with an accountant or a bank can be held on the same figures. Exports are useful, and they are also a discipline: a number that can be walked back to its source record is worth more than one tuned to be persuasive.

What does it cost?

Starter is ₹800 per month for a small team, Growth is ₹1,600 per month with a 30-day trial, and Agency is ₹5,000 per month for groups running several workspaces. An owner dashboard is not a separate product to add — it is a view over records you are already producing, so the cost is the same subscription.

Stop asking the shop how today went.

Bring your three questions — usually money owed, work at risk, and what the day produced. We will show you which of them NoxOrigin answers from records, and which it does not.
